Gaining knowledge through college is great—and often stressful. Other aspects of life are also often challenging and cause “stress.” It is therefore helpful—and worthwhile in the long run—to learn methods that allow you to regulate your stress levels.
The Studierendenwerk Oberfranken would like to support you in this and offers various courses each semester to help you learn stress management techniques.
- Autogenic Training
- Progressive Muscle Relaxation
- Mindfulness Training: MBSR = Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
- Mindfulness Training: MBCT = Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
- Focus Call online: Overcoming Procrastination, every Monday at 9:30 a.m. (no registration required).
All methods have been scientifically evaluated for their effectiveness and are taught by trained instructors.
There are contraindications to the use of relaxation techniques. Therefore, individual suitability should be assessed in advance. Furthermore, learning a relaxation technique cannot replace medical and/or psychotherapeutic treatment.
In the Autogenic Training course, the methodology is explained and practiced under guidance over the course of 8 one-hour sessions. The course is free of charge and takes place (depending on demand) both in person and online.
In the Progressive Muscle Relaxation course, the technique is explained and practiced under guidance over the course of 4 sessions, each lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes. The course is free of charge and takes place (depending on demand) both in person and online.
The MBSR and MBCT courses are 8-week programs, each consisting of one 2.5-hour in-person session per week and one Saturday or Sunday session from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The course fee is approximately 90–100 euros.
Detailed information about the individual courses and the registration process can be found in the box on the right.
